Green Tour

Chernobyl Tour
Explosion damaged nuclear reactors left for all time, abandoned helicopters and armoured cars, discarded buses and vehicles, derelict ghost towns. Dilapidated public buildings, ruined homes left quite as they stood, ravaged only by time. This is not Hollywood but the real time aftermath of the world's worst peace time nuclear disaster.

Twenty three years on and you still can't just walk or drive into the dead zone at will. But, at last, there are special dates and permits for group visits. You can now go to the restricted zone in groups of 2-10 people. You will travel into the zone with minivan, driver and guide. With your own equipment you can, as on a safari, take photos and videos of a real ghost town, where, in April 1986 time suddenly had to stand still. Nothing has been touched since; the city is overgrown with the vegetation of irradiation, and is host to the wildlife that now miraculously lives on, undisturbed by the pollution of human activity. During the full day excursion, you will visit small ghost towns followed by a visit to the old settlement of Chernobyl. Although this 30km zone is still controlled by the authorities, the area is now completely safe. However with no residents, the streets and countryside around are completely free of litter and the air is crystal clean. During your visit you will be accompanied by an experienced guide at all times, and of course, you can't merely wander off alone, due to danger areas which abound just a short distance from the safe routes. Above all, you have to remember - Chernobyl is a city of ghosts.
You will be able to note at first hand the results of the incredible heroism shown by the men and women who fought so hard to save their city from the radiation, and who in the process gave their lives trying to save the lives of their fellow citizens.
The Chernobyl tour, an insightful full day excursion of the exclusion zone around the old city is an informative, heart breaking but nevertheless amazing experience.
Just about everything you need for your visit is arranged personally for you. Airport pick up, apartment rental or hotel booking, car & paygo phone rental- Ukraine cellphone rates are refreshingly cheap- all is expertly taken care of for your comfort and convenience.
Who else can say they’ve been to Chernobyl on a Kiev weekend city break holiday? Not many, that’s for sure!
Please note, it usually takes about two weeks to obtain the legal permits for your access to Chernobyl Exclusion Zone. Please be sure to apply in good time.
Your visit will help to give a future to the children and grand children of the Chernobyl disaster who are still being disabled by the effects of the radiation. Chernobyl residents were moved en masse to a number of different locations but most went to the new town of Slavutych. A centre has been established there- the Slavutych Disabled Children Rehabilitation Centre - to help disabled children in need. A proportion of the fee you pay for access to Chernobyl Exclusion Zone- between 5-15% depending on group numbers- is allocated to the Centre, and so by making your visit you will be contributing directly to the welfare programs of the SDCRC.
